The sensor is plugged into the circuit

The first step to check that the sensor works, is to verify that it is firmly plugged into the circuit. The Grove Ultrasonic Ranger sensor is connected to the microcontroller using a Grove cable.

If you have tested the microcontroller using the previous cards (Microcontroller | 1 and Microcontroller | 2), the first thing you will need to do is to put the circuit together, connecting the sensor to the Grove Shield and that to the microcontroller.

Before moving forward, check that the circuit it is not connected from its power source (e.g., a USB cable).

Step 1: Connect the microcontroller to the Grove shield, checking that the labelled pins match.

Step 2: plug the cable into the Grove shield, using the first digital input/output (I/O) pin, labelled as D0. Grove connectors can only go in one way. Check that it is going the correct way before applying too much force.

Step 3: plug the other end of the cable into the distance sensor.

Verify that the two ends of the Grove cable are firmly connected.

To be sure, you can unplug and replug the grove connectors.
